Dr. James O. Daniel Award For The Most Innovative
Library-Based Ict Project Of The Year 2005

The annual award, instituted by Dr. James O. Daniel, recognizes
and honours a professional librarian in Nigeria who has demonstrated
vision and leadership through the use of Information and Communication
Technologies (ICTs) to promote the profession. This annual award
is to encourage the individual young Librarian in the innovative use of
ICTs to Library and Information Services (LIS) with demonstrable
impact on the library world.
A cash award of twenty thousand (N20, 000) naira and a plaque will
be presented to the successful candidate at the annual conference
of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA).
Criteria for Selection:
" Must have less than 10 years post professional qualification
work experience.
" Must be a Chartered Librarian.
" Must be a financial member of the NLA for the last three
consecutive years (2003-2005).
" Must have made outstanding innovations in the profession
in 2005 in the area of ICT application to library and information
services.
" Must be actively supportive of the Association's activities
at the local and national levels.
" Any other information that may assist the award committee
arrive at a decision
Who should nominate:
" Any financial member of the NLA who is a Chartered Librarian
as well as Chairmen of State Chapters and Sections.
How To Apply:
" Complete the application form
" Write a cover letter justifying why you should be given the
Award
" Present supporting documentation, where necessary, to substantiate
the claims.
All applications should reach the National Secretary not later
than 30th April, 2006.
